The Westerly Bulldogs will face off against the Narragansett Mariners at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Westerly 3.2, Narragansett 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Westerly is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Moses Brown, who was ranked 17th at the time (Westerly was ranked 12th). The Bulldogs never let the Quakers get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Thursday. The win was nothing new for the Bulldogs as they're now sitting on four straight.

Moses Brown's batters probably weren't too happy with Chase Collins, who pitched a no hitter and racked up seven Ks (he gave up zero walks). Collins has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Tyler Falcone was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. Jayden Parker was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Narragansett didn't have quite enough to beat Central on Wednesday and fell 2-1.
Aidan Clancey was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over six innings pitched.
At the plate, Drez Owens was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Skyler Fratiello-Soule also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Westerly's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Narragansett, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Westerly has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Narragansett struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Westerly was able to grind out a solid victory over Narragansett in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 7-2. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mariners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
