Crescenta Valley is a perfect 10-0 against Pasadena since March of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Crescenta Valley Falcons will face off against the Pasadena Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Crescenta Valley has six straight wins, Pasadena has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Crescenta Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Glendale on Friday as Crescenta Valley made off with a 16-1 victory. With that win, the Falcons brought their scoring average up to 7.1 runs per game.
Mike Herman made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.
In other batting news, Charlie Carafotes was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Dashiell Schultz was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Crescenta Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Pasadena came up short against Arcadia on Friday, falling 12-3. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by exactly nine runs.
Pasadena saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ian Van Zyl, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Crescenta Valley pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Pasadena, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5-1.
Pasadena's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Crescenta Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .464. It's a different story for Pasadena, though, as they've only averaged .353. Will they be able to contain Crescenta Valley's hitters?
Crescenta Valley beat Pasadena 6-1 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will Crescenta Valley repeat their success, or does Pasadena have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
