The Point Loma Pointers fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Patrick Henry Patriots on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Patriots 47-43. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Point Loma of the 49-42 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Despite the loss, Point Loma still got an impressive performance from Rachael Morris, who almost dropped a triple-double on 21 points, 18 rebounds, and nine steals. Morris hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 19 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Wade, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Patrick Henry's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ally Mangahis, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Kimora Nears, who scored 12 points.
Point Loma's loss dropped their record down to 16-10. As for Patrick Henry, their win bumped their record up to 9-18.
Point Loma will be playing at home against San Diego at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. San Diego is coming into the game with three straight defeats on the road, meaning Point Loma will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Patrick Henry, they will face off against Mira Mesa at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Mira Mesa's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Patrick Henry has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
