Scottsbluff has gone 8-2 against Chadron recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Bearcats are taking a road trip to take on the Cardinals. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Scottsbluff made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Elkhorn, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Bearcats fell just short of the Antlers by a score of 6-4 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Bearcats have suffered since September 13th.
Loural McCoy was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Danielle Hunter was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, Chadron didn't have quite enough to beat North Platte on Thursday and fell 5-4.
Jae Gooder spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kadence Fisher made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season.
Chadron has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season. As for Scottsbluff, their loss dropped their record down to 13-12.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Scottsbluff hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Chadron struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Scottsbluff beat Chadron 6-3 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Will the Bearcats repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
