The Truckee Wolverines suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Monday. They fell just short of Virginia City by a score of 33-30. Truckee was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Virginia City apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Among those leading the charge was Matley Kelley, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below two blocks for five straight games.
Truckee has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Virginia City, their victory bumped their record up to 4-17.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Truckee's road trip will continue as they head out to face South Tahoe at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. Hopefully South Tahoe focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Saturday. As for Virginia City, they will head out on the road to take on Pyramid Lake at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Pyramid Lake's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.
