The West Ranch Wildcats will challenge the Camarillo Scorpions at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Ranch will be strutting in after a victory while Camarillo will be coming in after a defeat.
West Ranch is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Capistrano Valley Christian 16-3 on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.
Steven Serrano made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Serrano was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Aaden LaRoe looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Ty Diaz was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025. Greyson Paule was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Camarillo fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Pacifica on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tritons by a score of 8-6. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Grant Tsuji made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Nate Escobar, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Camarillo now has a losing record of 8-9. As for West Ranch, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Camarillo's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: West Ranch hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. It's a different story for Camarillo, though, as they've only averaged .232. Will they be able to contain West Ranch's hitters?
West Ranch beat Camarillo 6-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Scorpions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
