The Village Christian Crusaders came tearing into Thursday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Rosary Academy and snuck past 63-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Layla Davis was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Alanna Neale, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Village Christian's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Rosary Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-2.
Village Christian and San Dimas will face off at 5:30 p.m. on December 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. San Dimas will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 118th, while Village Christian is ranked 16th). Rosary Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Santa Margarita at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
