Twiggs Academy headed into their last game having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but First Preparatory Christian Academy let them put that streak behind them. The Trojans put the hurt on the Highlanders with a sharp 14-5 win on Thursday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Trojans as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Meanwhile, Fullington Academy hadn't done well against Crisp Academy recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Trojans were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over the Wildcats. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won five matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Rayelee Johnson made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in August.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooklin Cromer, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Izzy Ross was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Fullington Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crisp Academy only posted a batting average of .158.
Twiggs Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Fullington Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-9.
