Baseball Recap: Azusa Find Success

Azusa posted their closest victory since May 30, 2024 on Tuesday. They skirted past the Garey Vikings 4-3.

Zach Huizar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Azusa is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-4 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jacob Elliot, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aidan Sanchez, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Azusa's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Garey, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Azusa will have a chance to go back-to-back against Garey: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
