Softball Recap: Cheyenne Mountain Wins Going Away Against Sand Creek

Cheyenne Mountain never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Sand Creek on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Scorpions. The Red-Tailed Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by seven runs or more this season.

Addison Gutschick was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Gutschick was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maci Houger, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in August of 2024. Another player making a difference was Madison Anderson, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Cheyenne Mountain's record is now 4-1. As for Sand Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Coincidentally, Cheyenne Mountain and Sand Creek will both be playing La Junta the next time they take the field. The Red-Tailed Hawks will head out to face the Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Scorpions will play them later in the day, at 5:15 p.m.
