Basketball Recap: Rylee Bradfield's Big Game Can't Quite Lead River Valley over Colusa

River Valley lost against Colusa back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The River Valley Falcons fell to the Colusa RedHawks 51-47. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 810th, while the RedHawks are ranked 252nd).

River Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rylee Bradfield, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Bradfield has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Avneeth Gill was another key player, putting up 13 points and six assists.

Even though they lost, River Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Colusa got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Danica Chavez out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine assists. Another player making a difference was Addison Lay, who posted six points in addition to seven boards and three blocks.

This is the second loss in a row for River Valley and nudges their season record down to 3-6. As for Colusa, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

River Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 56-34 defeat against Faith Christian on the 17th. As for Colusa, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 39-33 victory against Sutter on the 17th.
