Willows and Pierce are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Willows Honkers will be playing at home against the Pierce Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Last Monday, things could have been worse for Willows, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 64-46 loss to East Nicolaus.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from McKenzie Yang, who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Karla Sandoval DiMaggio, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Pierce had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They secured a 42-37 W over East Nicolaus.
Willows' defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Pierce, their victory bumped their record up to 10-12.
Willows came out on top in a nail-biter against Pierce when the teams last played on January 3rd, sneaking past 43-41. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Pierce's Jaslene Condrey, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
