Baseball Recap: Shaw Has No Trouble Against Sumter County

Shaw never let their opponents score on Friday. Everything went their way against the Sumter County Panthers as Shaw made off with a 13-0 victory. Considering the Raiders have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Kingston Long was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Deshaun Mays was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Shaw was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sumter County only posted a batting average of .125.

The win got Shaw back to even at 9-9. As for Sumter County, they dropped their record down to 5-11 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shaw will challenge Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Shaw is facing Heritage at the right time seeing as Heritage is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Sumter County, they will take on Spencer at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Spencer has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.5 runs per game on average), something Sumter County will no doubt try to take advantage of.
