After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bishop O'Dowd, the Castro Valley Trojans were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 46-32 victory over Mt. Eden. Given Castro Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 456th, while Mt. Eden is ranked 1023rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Naomi Chew was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten steals. Chew is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Qiomy Espinoza, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Castro Valley's victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Mt. Eden, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Castro Valley will face off against Piedmont at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Eden won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hayward at 6:30 p.m. on January 24th. Hayward will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
