Tri-City Christian hasn't had much luck against Escondido Charter recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with 11 defeats in a row, Tri-City Christian turned things around against Pacific Ridge on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Firebirds by a score of 4-1.

Preston Chang was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). He is becoming a predictor of Tri-City Christian's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 0-10 when he doesn't). Chang was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Sam Denning was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Tri-City Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Escondido Charter came tearing into Monday's game with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Bruins 11-2. Considering the Tigers have won 12 matchups by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Tri-City Christian, Escondido Charter also got a great game from a two-way player: Sawyer Hawthorne. On the mound, Hawthorne tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Silas Telfer tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Hawthorne earned one RBI, one run, and one stolen base, while Telfer went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most doubles Telfer has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sam Romero, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Karl (Liam) Ricciardi, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Escondido Charter pushed their record up to 15-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.2 runs. As for Tri-City Christian, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 3-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Tri-City Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Escondido Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Tri-City Christian might still be hurting after the 35-2 loss they got from Escondido Charter in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
