Video: Lee Dort highlights Watch the 6-10 sophomore put up 45 points in a game.
Lee Dort had a tremendous sophomore basketball season.
The 6-foot-10, 250-pound ranks third in the nation in rebounding at 17.8 per game, after he led the North Dallas Adventist Academy Sentinel to a 35-6 season and Texas Christian Athletic Fellowship state title. He had 10 points and 19 rebounds in the championship game.
Dort also averaged 18.4 points and 2.1 blocks per game as the Sentinel finished on a 14-game win streak. He had high games of 45 points (19-of-24 shooting in a 90-88 win over Dallas Thunder) and 28 rebounds (the first game of the season). He shot 64 percent from the floor.
Most seasons are over throughout the country, but Dort sits behind Michael Carmody, of Mars (Pa.) at 19.5 rebounds per game, and Mercy (Red Bluff, Calif.) junior Jayden Curl (19.1).
Of the top 50 rebounders in the country, 32 of them average at least 15 caroms a game. The only freshman on the list is Martin Gumwel, of Calvin Christian (Escondido, Calif.), a 6-10 post who averaged 17.2 per game.
