The Redwood Rangers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Monache 54-25. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Redwood in their matchups with Monache: they've now lost four in a row.
Brooklyn Tayo was Redwood's leading scorer, having posted three points.
Monache's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Milly Rojas, who scored 19 points along with five steals. Shelley Andrade was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Redwood has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-13 record this season. As for Monache, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 24-2.
Redwood will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Golden West at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Golden West focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday. As for Monache, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against San Joaquin Memorial at 12:00 p.m. on February 3rd. San Joaquin Memorial is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
