Evans fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Greenbrier on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Greenbrier Wolfpack by a score of 5-4. The Knights' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Evans got a good showing from Taylor Stone, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Stone has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bryant Rushing made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Clayton Hicks, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Evans now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Greenbrier, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 5-9.

While Evans had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
