San Simon extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-14. They lost 12-2 to the San Manuel Miners. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Longhorns couldn't push the score so high this time.
San Simon saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cayden Sloan, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for San Manuel, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. The result was nothing new for the Miners, who have now won seven contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
On San Manuel's side, Taylor Decker was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and not a single walk). Decker has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tanner Decker, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five stolen bases, and four runs. San Manuel is 9-2 when Decker posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Ivan Flores was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. San Simon will venture away from home to challenge Bisbee at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for San Manuel, they will head out to face off against Valley Lutheran at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Flames have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.33 runs per game on average), something the Miners will no doubt try to take advantage of.
