Former San Clemente (Calif.) star expected to be under center for the Jets in opener.
Over just one season, two high school football power states have switched spots when it comes to producing the most starting NFL quarterbacks.
In 2017, California products made up six of the 32 quarterbacks starting Week 1 in the NFL. Texas was second with four.
In 2018, Texas has zoomed to the top with eight named starters compared to six for California.
The Lone Star State added Nick Foles (Eagles), Case Keenum (Broncos), Andrew Luck (Colts), Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs) and Ryan Tannehill (Dolphins) as new starters in 2018.
In all, 15 states boast NFL starting QBs, but after Texas and California, none have more than two. One high school — Westlake (Austin, Texas) — claims two starters in Drew Brees and Nick Foles. There is a third QB with Westlake as their alma mater, but Cam Newton attended Westlake in Atlanta.
Read on for a complete breakdown of where NFL's starting QBs attended high school.
