The Chatsworth Chancellors won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a rough 82-45 loss at the hands of Birmingham. Chatsworth was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-18.
Birmingham's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Samantha Velasquez led the charge by scoring ten points along with six assists and six steals. Velasquez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Zoee Mitchell, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Chatsworth's loss dropped their record down to 15-9. As for Birmingham, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chatsworth's road trip will continue as they head out to face Granada Hills Charter at 4:00 p.m. on January 26th. Granada Hills Charter will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. As for Birmingham, they will head out on the road to face off against El Camino Real at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. El Camino Real is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
