Baseball Recap: Rancho Christian Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

While Rancho Christian put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Perris. The Eagles put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 11-0 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Sean Downs made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs.

In other batting news, Cylis Proffitt and Spencer Horner did most of the damage at the plate: Proffitt went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Horner went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Proffitt is becoming a predictor of Rancho Christian's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 5-1 (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Aj Garza was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Rancho Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Rancho Christian has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Perris, they dropped their record down to 2-16 with the defeat, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.
