The Chico Panthers entered their tilt with the Dublin Gaels with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Chico managed a 48-43 win over Dublin on Saturday. Given Chico's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Dublin is ranked 273rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chico's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Josie Carlos led the charge by scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Carlos is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Taylee Clements, who scored 13 points along with five assists and two steals.
Chico has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. As for Dublin, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-10.
Chico will head out on the road to challenge Enterprise at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Enterprise focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Thursday. As for Dublin, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against California at 7:30 p.m. California will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
