The Carlin Railroaders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their ninth straight loss. They were outmatched by Round Mountain on the road and fell 42-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Carlin has suffered yet this season.
When it comes to explaining why Carlin lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bretta Melendez. Despite the final result, she scored seven points along with two steals.
It was another big night for Ava Faga, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds for Round Mountain. Faga hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Layla Faga, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Carlin bumped their record down to 2-9 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Round Mountain, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Carlin will be playing in front of their home fans against Wells at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Round Mountain won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Indian Springs at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Indian Springs comes in on seven and Round Mountain on three.
