Two dominant in Maryanne Palacios and Savannah Govea are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Banning Broncos will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Colton Yellowjackets at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Banning is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Thursday, Banning ended up a good deal behind Redlands East Valley and lost 62-44.
The losing side was boosted by Palacios, who scored 31 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The match was her seventh in a row with at least ten points. Symora Prince was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Colton entered their tilt with Grand Terrace with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Colton pulled ahead with a 53-52 photo finish over Grand Terrace. The victory was all the more spectacular given Colton's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 660th, while Grand Terrace is ranked 320th).
Banning has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Colton, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
