Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in prep basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023-24 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
For the season, Goodbary averaged 19.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. His efforts helped Sioux Falls Christian outscored opponents by an average of nearly 20 points per contest this season.
In a 53-50 loss to Hamlin in the state title game, Goodbary notched a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. He went for 20 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots in a semifinal win over Dakota Valley (North Sioux City).
Goodbary went for a season-high 34 points in a January win over Canton.
Augustana University, South Dakota and South Dakota State have all extended scholarship offers to Goodbary.
