Uniontown lost on Saturday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Charley Murtha, who posted 13 points. Murtha continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emily Myers, who put up eight points.
Avery Davis was her usual excellent self, going 9 of 17 en route to 21 points along with five boards and four steals for Waynesburg Central. Davis is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Smith, who had six points and four steals.
Uniontown now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Waynesburg Central, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Uniontown and Waynesburg Central could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. Uniontown (ranked 340th) will meet Baldwin (ranked 151st) at 6:00 p.m. on January 7th. Meanwhile, Waynesburg Central (ranked 239th) will meet Seton LaSalle (ranked 109th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
