Baseball Recap: Truckee Extends Winning Streak to Four

Truckee won against Sparks last Saturday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. Truckee never let Sparks get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by 11 runs or more this season.

Calder Finn made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Truckee got a massive performance out of Logan Arata, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Arata has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jackson Wicks, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Truckee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .680. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

The victory (which was Truckee's fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Sparks, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Truckee will head out to face off against South Tahoe at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Sparks, they will venture away from home to square off against Hug at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sparks is facing Hug at the right time seeing as Hug is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
