Softball Game Preview: Alburnett Pirates vs. Springville Orioles

Alburnett is a perfect 10-0 against Springville since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Pirates are taking a road trip to take on the Orioles at 5:00 p.m. Springville took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Alburnett, who comes in off a win.

Alburnett barely beat Starmont the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Pirates never let the Stars get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Thursday. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Stars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Springville lost 9-1 to Edgewood-Colesburg on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Orioles in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost six in a row.

Alburnett's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-7. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Springville, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-10.

Alburnett took their win against Springville in their previous meeting back in June of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
