The Kennedy Thunderbirds suffered their biggest loss since November 28, 2023 on Saturday. They were dealt a 51-17 defeat at the hands of Golden Valley. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Kennedy has scored all season.
Several Thunderbirds players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Erica Gomez, who scored five points. Devani Ochoa was another key contributor, scoring five points along with eight rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Kennedy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Kennedy has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. As for Golden Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 8-15.
Kennedy will face off against East Bakersfield at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. East Bakersfield is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Golden Valley, they will head out on the road to take on Arvin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
