 Newton's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was  Jayce Yearwood, who  scored two  runs while going 1-for-3.
 Meanwhile, Grayson won against Rockdale County  on Wednesday with 15  runs and they decided to stick to that  run total again  on Friday. Grayson beat Rockdale County by the very same score they won with in their prior game:  15-1. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won three games by ten  runs or more  so far this season.
 Newton's win was  their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 7-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Grayson, they now  have a winning record of 5-4.
 Newton was able to grind out a solid  victory over Grayson in their previous meeting  back in April of 2024, winning  4-1. Will Newton repeat their success,  or does  Grayson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
