Basketball Recap: Lassen Comes Up Short

If Lassen was riding high fresh off their 62-21 takedown of Central Valley last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lassen Grizzlies took a 46-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Valley Eagles. Sadly, that's the third time they've come up short against the Grizzlies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 63-48 back in January.

Despite the loss, Lassen still got an impressive performance from Brook Medovitch, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards. That's the most points Medovitch has posted since back in January of 2024. Nellie Ratcliff was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Lassen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Among those leading the charge was Emily Huddleston, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rainessa Matthews, who went 5 for 9 en route to 11 points.

Lassen's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-13. As for West Valley, their record now sits at 12-10.

Lassen wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 67-64 victory against Anderson on the 4th. As for West Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-23 win against Central Valley on the 4th.
