Penn Wood is 8-2 against Chester since February of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Penn Wood Patriots will look to defend their home court against the Chester Clippers at 7:00 p.m.
Last Monday, Penn Wood came up short against Abington and fell 52-39. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 407th, while the Galloping Ghosts are ranked 189th).

Despite their defeat, Penn Wood saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Taylor Morris, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards, was perhaps the best of all. Morris is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Elisia Lawrence, who posted 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Penn Wood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 11 consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Chester entered their tilt with Academy Park on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Knights, sneaking past 45-43.
Penn Wood better keep an eye on Ja?Mya Muhammad. She was instrumental in Chester's win, going 7 of 11 on her way to 19 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Imani Dorsey, who put up ten points and four blocks.
Chester pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33.2 points. As for Penn Wood, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Penn Wood has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Chester struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Penn Wood lost to Chester at home by a decisive 61-45 margin when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Penn Wood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
