The Corning Cardinals are on the road again on Thursday and play against the Central Valley Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on December 7th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Corning lost to Red Bluff on the road by a decisive 53-38 margin.
Meanwhile, Central Valley took a serious blow against Willows on Monday, falling 63-35. Central Valley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their loss, Central Valley saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Vincent Vanpal, who scored 17 points, was perhaps the best of all. Vanpal scored a full 48.6% of Central Valley's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Hunter Sanderson, who scored 11 points along with 5 steals.
Mt. Shasta's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Corning's defeat dropped theirs to 1-3.
Corning was able to grind out a solid win over Central Valley in their previous meeting back in December of 2021, winning 50-41. Will Corning repeat their success, or does Central Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
