Adelanto has been on the road for two straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Hesperia Scorpions at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Adelanto focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 29 to 13 on the offensive boards, a fact Adelanto proved. They came out on top against Sultana by a score of 48-41.
Adelanto's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nina Lacy, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 21 rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Lacy has scored at least 25% of Adelanto's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanzy Richard, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Hesperia's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 46-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clovis East. While losing is never fun, Hesperia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 821st, while Clovis East is ranked 88th).
The victory got Adelanto back to even at 5-5. As for Hesperia, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.
Adelanto was taken down by Hesperia 67-17 when the teams last played back in January of 2020. Thankfully for Adelanto, Tyreshia Sessions (who scored 20 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
