The Stagg Delta Kings will venture away from home to challenge the Franklin Yellowjackets at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Franklin took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Stagg, who comes in off a win.
Stagg is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Chavez get on the board and left with a 28-0 win on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Delta Kings, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Michael Hutchinson and Aelias Guerrero made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Hutchinson pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Guerrero tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Hutchinson a new career-low in walks (zero). At bat, Hutchinson scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances, while Guerrero got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. That stolen base was Hutchinson's first of the season.

03/21/25 @ Pioneer | 2 |
02/28/25 vs Bret Harte | 2 |
02/26/25 vs Lathrop | 2 |
02/25/25 vs Johansen | 2 |
In other batting news, Jackson Brooks was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and five RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Zachary Glatz also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Stagg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Franklin suffered their biggest defeat since April 26, 2024 on Monday. They came up short against Rio Americano, falling 9-2. The Yellowjackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Franklin saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sergio Campuzano, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Another was Devian Bautista, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Stagg has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 10.63 hits in those games compared to only 5.5 in the others. Franklin now has a losing record of 6-7.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Stagg has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Franklin struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Stagg might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Franklin in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Stagg avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
