Canyon has been on the road for five straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the West Ranch Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Canyon made easy work of Saugus and carried off a 58-36 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given Canyon's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 332nd, while Saugus is ranked 83rd).
Canyon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Josie Regez led the charge by scoring 19 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Regez has scored at least 25% of Canyon's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kodia ?Koko? Booker, who scored 13 points along with 7 rebounds.
Meanwhile, West Ranch had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Royal 52-11 at home.
Their wins bumped Canyon to 3-2 and Saugus to 4-2.
Everything came up roses for Canyon against West Ranch in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 75-27 win. Does Canyon have another victory up their sleeve, or will West Ranch turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
