Softball Recap: Fredericktown Has No Trouble Against Sikeston

Fredericktown had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Sikeston on Tuesday. The Black Cats blew past the Bulldogs 14-4. Considering the Black Cats have won nine matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Abby Rehkop was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Fredericktown got a massive performance out of Adrienne Cox, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits Cox has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Miley Wengler, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Fredericktown's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Sikeston, they are on a 23-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Fredericktown didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-0 win against St. Pius X on the 1st. As for Sikeston, they will take on Doniphan at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
