Basketball Recap: Franklin's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Franklin had to endure a five-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They strolled past the Denair Coyotes with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 49-35. The Yellowjackets' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Franklin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nicole Belasco, who went 5 of 9 en route to 12 points and three steals. Belasco has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Alondra Fregoso, who posted 12 points.

When it comes to explaining why Denair lost, don't look at Cloey Ellerd. Despite the final result, she had 18 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Piper Northcutt, who put up six points and 11 rebounds.

Franklin's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Denair, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Franklin wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 53-22 victory against River Islands on the 6th. As for Denair, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 31-27 win against Dos Palos on the 9th.
