Baseball Recap: Modesto Christian Gets the Win

Modesto Christian won the last time they faced Stone Ridge Christian and things went their way on Thursday too. Modesto Christian walked away with a 7-4 win over Stone Ridge Christian. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Crusaders.

Teegan Davis and Mike Martinez were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Davis tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Martinez struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only one hit. Davis has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. At the plate, Davis scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Martinez scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Martinez has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Guilano Perez was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Javian Royal, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Modesto Christian's record now sits at 4-13. As for Stone Ridge Christian, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Modesto Christian is set to square off against their familiar foe Delhi at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Stone Ridge Christian will take on rival Mariposa County at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
