The Dunsmuir Tigers lost against the Butte Valley Bulldogs back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Dunsmuir had to suffer through a rough 53-23 loss at the hands of Butte Valley. While losing is never fun, Dunsmuir can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1201st, while Butte Valley is ranked 570th).
Despite the loss, Dunsmuir still got an impressive performance from Cyla Clemens, who scored 14 points along with four steals. Clemens scored a full 60.9% of Dunsmuir's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
This is the second loss in a row for Dunsmuir and nudges their season record down to 1-5. As for Butte Valley, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dunsmuir will square off against Surprise Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Butte Valley won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Hayfork at 5:30 p.m. on January 10th. Hayfork is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
