Rockford East played in-conference for the first time on Thursday and got just the result they were looking for. They had just enough and edged out the Freeport Pretzels 2-1. The victory was some much needed relief for the E-Rabs as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Rockford East got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 15-25, 25-18.

Freeport's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Almasy, who had seven digs and two aces. Another player making a difference was Grace Muench, who had 12 digs and two assists.

Rockford East picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-6. As for Freeport, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Looking ahead, Rockford East will be playing at home against Princeton at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Freeport, they will face off against Peotone at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
