Baseball Recap: Rome Victorious

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Rome brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They had just enough and edged out the Kennesaw Mountain Mustangs 10-9. The win was some much needed relief for the Wolves as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Wyatt Costlow was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. He has become a key player for Rome: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-9 otherwise. Brett Boden was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Rome's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 6-9. As for Kennesaw Mountain, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 12-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rome will take on New Manchester at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rome is facing New Manchester at the right time seeing as New Manchester is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Kennesaw Mountain, they will square off against Alexander at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Kennesaw Mountain's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Alexander's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
