Baseball Game Preview: River City Raiders vs. Sacramento Dragons

For the second straight game, River City will face off against Sacramento. The Raiders are taking a road trip to square off against the Dragons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. River City will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

River City is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Sacramento get on the board and left with a 19-0 win on Tuesday. With that victory, the Raiders brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Nick Rodriguez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because River City is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-8 otherwise. Rodriguez was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Noah Carrington was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of River City's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when he doesn't). Bart Sy also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

River City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Sacramento is on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13-1. As for River City, their record now sits at 12-8.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. River City has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.6 stolen bases per game.
