Woonsocket extended their winning streak (dating back to last season) to five on Friday, bumping them up to 2-0. They put the hurt on the Burrillville Broncos with a sharp 12-5 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Villa Novans also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2025.
Cesar Vazquez Jr. and Patrick Munger were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Vazquez Jr. pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Munger pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Vazquez Jr. went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Munger went 1-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI Munger has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Ty Chhourn was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jullian De Jesus was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
As for Burrillville, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since May 13, 2025.
On Burrillville's side, Logan Gomez and Zack Laplume did some serious damage despite the final result: Gomez went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Laplume went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Coming up, Woonsocket will host North Smithfield at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. This will be the Villa Novans' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Burrillville, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 6-3 loss against Lincoln on the 4th.
