Two dominant guards in Jeda Taylor and Ashley Medina are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Marshall Barristers will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Franklin Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Marshall focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Monday.
Last Monday, Marshall suffered a rough 59-34 defeat at the hands of the Mustangs. While losing is never fun, Marshall can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 788th, while the Mustangs are ranked 388th).
Despite their defeat, Marshall saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Alicia Quintanar, who scored two points along with 12 steals, was perhaps the best of all. Giselly Gaona was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Franklin earned a 49-40 victory over the Mules on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Franklin.
Marshall has not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Franklin, their win bumped their record up to 17-4.
Marshall might still be hurting after the 49-25 defeat they got from the Panthers when the teams last played back in January. Can Marshall avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
