Baseball Recap: Belleville West Takes a Loss

After flying high against Edwardsville on Tuesday, Belleville West came back down to earth. The Maroons fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The Maroons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 12-2.

Lucas Womack was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Belleville West saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Feazel, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Belleville West's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8-1. As for Edwardsville, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-7.

Looking ahead, Belleville West will head out to take on Highland at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Edwardsville, they will face off against Parkway South at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Patriots will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
