Granite Ridge recap September 10, 2013
Becker was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to third in Granite Ridge. The Bulldogs vanquished Zimmerman 34-10 earlier in the week.
St. Cloud Cathedral moved up to 86 from 123 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Crusaders climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Mora 42-12.
The Thunder's dynamic duo of Matthew Dorso and Nick Hasslen proved to be unstoppable against Becker, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Dorso threw for 110 yards and Hasslen had 99 yards receiving. Craig Steiskal helped Zimmerman's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 32 yards.
Zimmerman's dynamic duo of Dorso and Hasslen proved tough for Dwight Lundeen's team to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Kyle Birr was a passing and rushing force as Albany beat Little Falls.
Lee Christopherson was a key player and the best on defense this week as Tom Kish's team lost to the Bulldogs. The 6-foot-10 senior.
Hasslen was the best wideout in the league this week as the Thunder fell to Becker.
Dorso put up the best numbers through the air as Zimmerman fell to the Bulldogs.
Birr was the most successful running back in Granite Ridge this week. In 15 carries, he ran for 133 yards as the Huskies lost to Becker. Teammate Nick Mergen added to the ground attack by rushing for 86 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Zimmerman's Taylor Snow and Hasslen have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-6 quarterback Snow has thrown for 115 yards this season, while Hasslen has 9 catches for 112 yards. Albany's Birr leads the league in rushing yards with 168.
The Bulldogs are currently in third, while Foley is in first.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Becker takes on the Falcons. The Bulldogs have allowed 26 points this season, while Foley has given up 20.
St. Cloud Cathedral took down the Mustangs 42-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.
