Softball Recap: Palmer Ridge Wins High-Profile Contest Against University

Palmer Ridge faced University in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Bears blew past the Bulldogs 18-12. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by six runs or more this season.

Palmer Ridge got a massive performance out of Corinna Arellano, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most RBI Arellano has posted since back in October of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Savanah Martinez, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Palmer Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .541. Their batting average was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .382 that University posted.

Palmer Ridge's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for University, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-2.

Coming up, Palmer Ridge will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Lutheran at 4:00 p.m. The Bears will need to watch out since the Lions have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for University, they will square off against Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season.
