The Azusa Aztecs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight loss. They were outmatched by Eisenhower on the road and fell 60-24. While losing is never fun, Azusa can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 998th, while Eisenhower is ranked 493rd).
Azusa's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Charlotte Alvarenga, who scored six points, and Alondra Olmos who scored five points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Alvarenga has scored all season.
Azusa bumped their record down to 6-8 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.8 points per game. As for Eisenhower, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Azusa and Garey will face off at 5:00 p.m. on December 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Garey focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Saturday. Eisenhower and Carter will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
